Raw emissions inventory data is typically spatially distributed by county, road segment or a single point. The SMOKE program Grdmat creates a gridding matrix for area, mobile and point sources. This gridding matrix is then applied to the intermediate inventory file to transform the source-based inventory emissions to gridded emissions.
